I have a von weise that I am setting up and having problems. My gbox does not count when moved. It has a different type of thing in the motor other than a reed sensor or set of magnets. It has a 1 1/4 long rod about the thickness of a pencil that slides down in a round hole with 2 wires coming out. It was siliconed in place when I got it with 2 wire nuts on it. I soldered longer wires on it and used the terminal strip to use my 2 wires in my flat ribbon cable but it does not sense anything at the gbox. I have no way to tell which is pulse or ground. I do not think it matters but would like to know if someone else has any idea about it. I will include a picture of it below if I can figure out how to add picture. I may have to get a new actuator if I can not get this right.

Cruzin, Can you back up a little and take another pix? Too fuzzy for me. Also, do you have any model number for the actuator - Any info off of a label or anything might help.

I have another picture of it but may even be worse and I since have put it back together and siliconed it back in that round hole you see in the picture. it is the model v76-80. if you know where I can get information on it I would appreciate it. thanks.

I'll see what I have for actuators on my C-band dishes. I have 3. From looking on the web it sounds like yours is a VW76 series unless Von Wiess used to have a V series in the past. They use a reed switch and they also offered a optical option. I see that you've been already asking around on other forums with no success. I'll get back to you within a day. Hopefully I will find out something.

I'm thinking that the object is a reed switch and maybe down in the hole a magnet is on a shaft so that when the shaft rotates a magnet on it "pulses" the switch. You are right about polarity on a reed sensor, it doesn't matter since it is only a switch. You can easily verify if it is a reed by putting an ohmmeter across the leads and move any magnet near it, you will see a change if it is.
