Default switch or motor or??

I've been experiencing a problem changing channels.
It started out only when I would change to my most southern satellite (72w). The motor would stall shortly after it started moving. If I changed to a different dish on the switch and then returned, it would continue tracking to the designated place. Lately, at various times, the signal will drop and I will lose the picture. Sometimes it comes back on its own, sometimes it takes doing the process I just described.
My dish is not reachable in the snow (it's on my roof, 28 ft. up) so I'm trying to determine the source of the problem.
I have an Invacom qph-031 lnb. The second receiver on the lnb does not do this, and it's also on a different diseqc switch. So, I've narrowed it down to either the side of the lnb that I'm using (that's having the problem), the switch or the motor. The motor has been in service only a month, the Invacom for about 4 months. All of my cable is new rg6 with weatherproof connections. The switch is about 6 months old.
I suspect it is the switch, and have ordered a replacement. Does any one have any ideas to prove my problem source other than changing out the switch. Fortunately I can reach the switch with out the fear of breaking my neck...
thanks

Did you connect strait from the LNB?
Did you change settings on the LNB side and on the SW side on the Receiver,

my dish 36" and motor is also as high as yours, and is a problem to go up there.

I had a similar problem, I was using a 22khz switch, I change it to a DiSEqc switch, it has been running great. I think cold weather affects the 22khz switch.
Just my thoughts.

thanks guys
I am using a diseqc 4x1 switch...
I've had to replace it a couple times now.
the one I ordered is heavy duty, maybe that will do the trick...

...i had the same problem about a year or so because i wrapped my disecq with a palstic bag ("to protec from weather") but is a pretty bad idea because the water condensation will damage your disecq.

This comment probably isn't necessary, but, you can buy switches with protective covers. Just my two cents.

....I know that Jim-S, but the cover broke and I was waiting for the new switch with cover from WS International that I'm using (same as the picture from Robby) so i had to cover it for a while with a plastic bag.
