Default Help with BSC621

Hi Folks my first post so please be patient with me.

I have an 8ft Andersen with BSC621 Viewsat and DB500 receivers. Whilst I can get immediate lock and good quality signal on 97W with my QPH-031 and ASC-621-2 LNBs I am getting nothing out of the BSC-621.

Anyone out there have any pointers on what may be wrong or did I happen to get a dud BSC-621?

Any help would be appreciated.

which bsc 621 are you using the bsc-621-2 or the other bsc-621 because the -2 is universal and the 621 is standard so if it is the -2 you need to set your lnb lo to 9750/10600.

I have the plain BSC621, not the BSC-621-2. I had some other communication which pointed me to the set up of the LNB which I have right the only possible thing could be the 22Khz switch settings which I will look into tomorrow. I'n not sure how this is set on the Viewsat so I may need to switch to the DB500 set that up and check it through that route.

Thanks for you quick feedback.

Thanks Rainman,

I'll try that, do you know how to switch it on for the Viewsat? Weather is not co-operating today s I can't do much I hope for better tomorrow.

Thanks again,

Still raining here so looks like I'll have to delay another day. I'll do some reading on the Viewsat and post results when I can get outside to change the LNB.

I got some relief from the rain this morning and decided to do some testing. Here are the results.

Using the Viewsat as the receiver and with the QPH031 still attached to the dish I locked 97W using TP frequency 11789 which is a moderate signal on the QPH-031. I then removed the QPH.

I then removed the c-band portion of the BSC and marked the orientation position with a marker and set that on the dish. I got about the same signal strength and quality as the QPH admittedly it is still a little overcast here so it may just be timing with the cloud cover.

I noticed that there seems to be a fairly wide focus range on the dish as I could move the LNB in about 1.5” and had about 15 degrees of rotation on it without seeming to affect signal strength or quality much. But again it could be cloud cover timing; I’ll have to go back to this on a clear day to be certain.
I marked off the ranges on the LNB body so that I would know how much range I had to play with once I put everything back together again.

I then took the BSC off and put the c-band portion on and reattached to the dish. I got nothing on the TP at all. So thinking that I may have done something wrong I removed the screws that hold everything together and tested again with the c-band portion off and got my signal and 51% quality but once I put the c-band portion in front of the ku segment my quality disappears.

Any thoughts about where to go next?
