Default My WS Conical Kit installed on a 1m dish mini BUD project.

Part 1.

Thought I would share this installation I did this week, with of course the now famous WS Conical Kit from Robby .

I first started out with a Winegard 100cm dish I had in the backyard for like 2yrs w/o use. Mainly due to the lack of having the right mount for it. (Ok I do admit I was a bit lazy to look for it, lol).

Then I decided to search for a non penetrating floor mount with 2 3/8" OD. Then the shipping costs would pretty much kill that product so I went ahead and used a nice wooden pallet I had at work that was pretty strong looking with thick boards on it. Brought it home and stored it in garage.

While browsing ebay I found a nice Starband 2 3/8" pole for under $25 shipped which was perfect for the pallet I had in mind to use.

When the pole finally arrived, I immediately mounted on pallet, went to the backyard and grabbed the 1m dish and mounted it. It looked even better then I thought it would.

Then I purchased the WS DMX741 Conical kit combo (thanks Robby) and received it this past Monday.

That same night I was hyped to get this baby up and running and then found out that the Winegard 100cm dish LNB arm will not fit into the Cband Ring (as pictured)

I was like hmmm, this is gonna take longer then I thought. Our good friend ICEBERG suggested that I would use a piece of wood to support the RING onto the ARM, so that gave me an idea and ran to my garage.

Part 2:

Well after 15min of looking thru my junk, I found a nice metal piece that was a perfect sized match for the RING.

Mounted it into the LNB Arm (as pictured)

Mounted the whole conical kit, used a hose clamp to tighten the metal that holds the RING (no drilling at all) and was up and running at last.

Part 3:

Now for my tests, with Satmex 5 and Galaxy 16.

Galaxy 16 TP 3735V

Comes in at 72% with 1m dish. Some of the DVB-S ABC channels in the 40-50%
The 4 locals from Caribbean at high 20's (wont lock) Might need some tweaking around. Dont even know if pallet is 100% leveled too.

Satmex 5 TP 3863 results with and w/o conical installed.

w/o conical 40% PQ (picture#2)

With conical 69% to 71% (great improvement) picture #3

I was happy with the results I did so far. I will be testing other satellites this week and will post the results.

I highly recommend this Conical setup for anyone who wants CBAND in a smaller dish.

Nice Illustration Pro96! Great job.

A small suggestion Pro96. Can you attach the picture using the "Attachments" button (looks like a paper clip), instead of copying and pasting the picture in the body of message post? Thanks!

Have you tried calling them on the phone to check the status of your order?

What type of receiver do you have? For the Linear sats you should be setting you L.O. 10750 and for C-Band a L.O. of 5150. What dish size will you be using?
