Default Ken G.

Hi I'm a retire Delta Air Lines aircraft mechanic.I'll try to fix anything even when I don't know what I'm doing.I started installing KU band dishes for people that could not get out and go to church.I tuned the dishes to AMC6 freq 12144 syb rate 2573.I with difficulty installed approz 7 systems using a simple toner.I decided to buy a Birdog satellite finder and to be honest , I don't care for the Birdog. The only advantage is one can tell if you are on the correct satallite. What I find real difficult is the elevation adjustment.Does anyone have a trick to fine tune the elevation?I'm new tothe forum ans look forward to partisipating.
Ken G.

Welcome to the forum Ken unfortunately on these KU dishes the elevation scale is not real accurate so it's kind of a hit or miss so no easy way to dial it in except for small movements up and down till you get it. I have a Birdog also and like it very well.

Many of you have quite the impressive equipment lists! I am looking to upgrade to an HD receiver and maybe add another C-band dish. The new C/Ku LNBF looks interesting. Lots of fun playing with this stuff and reading about everyone else's experiences.
Happy New Year,
gfm.

Rainman I contacted Birdog meter and they gave me new files for Universal lnbs. When looking at the fields that seem to be in alfabet order but down at the bottom of the configurtion field there file that start with you U that help a lot id you use universal LNB ie UH AMG 72deg west. I locked right in the AMC 6 AND WAS ABLE TO PICK UPGBN ON 12144 AT SYB 2573 FINE
I Am LEARNING EVERY DAY AND PICH UP A FEW GOOD IDEAS.fOR THE FINE TUNINg ON THE EVEVATION AFTER THE AZMUTHAS IS OFTAIN,I Use a turn BARREL $1.87 from Lowes THAT It SELf TRAP SCREW TO THE POLe AND THE lnb ARM AND WAS ABLE TO TUNe IT TO A HAIR. Worked very well.Im looking at a way to attach it to the barrel instead of the pole KEN G.
