Default Completely Lost Newbie Could Use Suggestions

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some help. My wife and I live in the Northeastern US (New Jersey to be exact). My wife is Thai and I want to get an FTA setup so we can watch Thai TV programming at home. My understanding thus far is that getting a satellite/receiver package will in no way interfere with our current cable TV provider (Comcast).

As I'm brand new to this I have no idea where to begin. I'm basically looking for a good package solution where I can get the maximum number of Thai TV channels without breaking my bank. I don't know what the differences in models, what an LNBF is, and whether or not I should get something with a motor or not.

I apologize if this is boring conversation for you guys, but I could really use some advice. The holidays are coming up and I would love to surprise my wife with this.

Josh

I believe you can get one or two Thai channels on Galaxy 19 @ 97°W transponder 11966 H SR 22000 for free. Since you're just starting out, I suggest you first try a stationary installation, and maybe motorized later. This is what you need; a Linear LNB, at least a 36" dish, a receiver, cables and some free time to do the istallation. BTW you can buy a complete sytem from Galaxy marketing. Talk to their sales rep to see if they have any special deals.
