Default A few questions...

G-day folks...

I'm new to true FTA.. Just have a few questions.

I have a VSpro. Since B and D are gone to N3 I decided to try true FTA.

I'm trying to use a SG2100 motor with a 90cm Starchoice elipticat dish with the Quad output KU linear LNB on it. I can get 71% signal strength but 0% quality.

Again I am new to this. I get the concept but might be doing something wrong.

I also loaded the STB with V106 Factory software downloaded from VSusa. So I think its good.

Any insight as to what else I should be looking for.

Why am I only getting 0% quality?

Does this dish and LNB work for FTA... was told it should. I'm not after getting all Channels... I'm thinking anything from 89W to 130W would be fine to play with. I live in Southwestern Ontario Canada.

I mounted the starchoice eliptical dish to the sg2100 motor. I'm not sure if I have to compensate for the dish angle at all or not. I say this because I have the actual dish set to 10 degrees for elevation on the dish.. not the motor elevation. Reason why is cuz the starchoice dish doesn't have a zero elevation setting..

I also read somewhere that somehave copped off 3" from the LNB arm or moved the bolt holes up or back any where from 1.5" to 3"... Dunno if any of that is true or not....

Ideas? Has anyone ever tried this?

Thanks in advance...

J

My VSPro works fine for FTA. I'm using a Primestar dish and original LNBF and a 6' Janeil Junior solid aluminum dish for C-band DVB. I have yet to mount my Digipower SG-2100 mover, so I would ask you if you had tried to aquire a satellite before you mounted the dish on the mover? It's pretty straightforward using the aiming info from Lyngsat (click on SatTracker once you're at the page for the sat you're aiming for). I'd suggest setting your azimuth and elevation manually until you're locked on and then duplicate that position when you reinstall the dish on the mover. This is easy for me to say - my small dishes are mounted on the face of my deck just outside the tv room! Hope yours isn't on the roof.
I think 71% is pretty much background level signal strength. There will be no doubt as soon as you hit the bird square on - the strength bar will color up, as will the Q if you're on it. Are you sure you've set you Antenna Settings correctly? The LO frequency needs to be 10750 for a linear LNB.
