Default help pointing sat

hi all,

I am new to FTA, i just got my system from galaxy marketing, but i am having problems getting a sat signal. my question is how much will power wire affect your signal. i have some wires in the direction of the satelite i want to hit. i can't get greater then 36% signal. i have not tried to move the pole. but i have moved the dish in all directions.

i have a

ws9036 dish

with motor

omegasat dsb 5701

and a 521 lnbf

i may not have the reciever set up right

but i set it on standerd 10750MHz

i set the motor to 0 and let it drive to the sat then more the dish in the direction that dishpointer said to aim.

i have try setting the dish at South too and tryed it that way

i think i have the sat set up right.

thx for your help.

David

if i need to give more info i will...

I have the same system and cannot get a signal either. Anyone in the Arrowbear Lake - Running Springs CA area with a similar system / problem?

the power wires did not block the signal. i just had to keep working and repointing tell i got it to work. I monted the dish with no motor on my pole and locked onto gal 19. using dish pointer (this is online) to give me a good guess at the direction. after i got it locked on then using the meter on the box. mover the dish to help get the best signal. i blind scanned sat 19 to get the channel . after that i put the motor back on the pole and the dish on the motor. i set my box on a channel then mover the dish up and down. until i got that channel to come in. this was the ezest way i found to get it to work. the hand held meter i had did not help me at all. the meter on the box is what i used. i hope this helps...btw i did not get it locked onto the sat the first try. but it was so cool when i did get it to work and all the channels started downloading onto my box. keep trying. note the marks on the backets where a little off.

Thanks - I'll try it that way. I do have a small hand held signal finder I just bought. Hopefully it will not be a waste of money however small.

Default Did you get signal yet?

I read your post and one question that I have for you is how many feet of RG-6 did you use?
I don't have my video online for setting up the motor, but this video will help you some. Basically if you are aligning to G-19 or any other satellite your mast pole must be perfectly level and solid if you are running a motor.
Watch my video it might help you out some: iSS satellite install procedure.wmv - YouTube
If you are having problems with aligning your system you might consider a Lexium FastAlign meter. I just had a training seminar for installers on Sunday and they purchase 2 Lexium FastAlign meters to help them out with the installations. Your receiver will do the job for aligning your dish, however, using a Lexium FastAlign meter with lock into signal much faster because they are far more sensitive than a receiver.
