Default Setting up your receiver for C/Ku Reception

I received an interesting email from a customer overseas who had ordered a bunch of the DMX741U CKU LNBFs from us and was installing it. Though it's a very important question, it has a very basic answer.

His question was how would he setup receivers to receive both C band reception and Ku band reception when it's the satellite satellite.

The answer is very simple: As far as the receiver is concerned, you have two seperate LNBFs hooked up and will treat the setup as if you are getting signal from 2 seperate satellites. 1 satellite that broadcasts C band and 1 satellite that broadcasts Ku band. So you would create a satellite in your receiver with TP frequencies of the Ku band portion and another satellite in your receiver with TP frequencies of the C band portion. Then you would assign Port A or 1 to the C band and Port B or 2 to Ku band.

I use a c after the sat name for c band to distinguish the 2 sats.

Yeah... Many receivers are also pre-programmed from the factory like that. Some of the older set top boxes however still only have 1 satellite programmed in.

..........i dont think that lnbf it's gonna work with a 36" dish, that lnbf work with a prime focus (1.80 meter and up).

That lnb is suposed to be a dual kband and c-band.I'm not looking for c band just better ku band.I had a 33" dish with rotor and some transponders were weak so I thought a bigger dish would improve my kband signal. When I reinstalled my linear ku band the signal level went up from 85 to 100 on some stations.I intend to use the 741 U on a future bigger dish.I thought I could use it for KU band for now but it don't work.Live and learn, nice hobby for the terminally retired though.
