Default Need some assistance with dish/lnb setup

Hello to all:

I am new to FTA and need some help with getting setup. I have a 9.5 ft Birdview Dish with Horizon to Horizon motor. I used the dish for C/KU channels on my GI 4DTV up until a short time ago. The dish was aligned to recieve all the satellites that the 4DTV could get. I now plan to use the dish for FTA. Here is what i have for equipment.

1. Viewsat Ultra FTA Receiver ( Can this receiver work?)
2. Birdview 9.5 dish H/H
3. DMX741 International C/KU LNBF with Scaler Ring.

Do i have to "Re-Aim" the Birdview to get the FTA Sats?, I can not get any Sats at this time. When i move the dish i can see the Signal Strength change/increase as i move across the sky, andf an occasional increase in Signal Quality but that is it.

I am located in Daytona Beach, Florida

Thanks in Advance for replys/help

It should work just fine for fta I would leave the 4DTV hooked up and slave the fta receiver to it that way you can have the best of both worlds.
see lyngsat for the freq for the fta channels and scan them in when you are on that sat.

Default Still NoLuck

I appreciate everyone's help but looks like i have to give up. I was injured while serving with the Army in Iraq a couple of years ago and i am not able to
get around very well. If there is anyone in the Daytona Beach, Florida area willing to assist me it would be greatly appreciated. I will try a few more times, if no luck i will be offering the LNBs, Complete Dish and a couple of GI 920, 922 4DTV receivers for sale.

thanks again

Smile Works on 4DTV OK

The system works perfectly with the 4DTV Reciever, I was using a Co-Rotor II Plus Feed Horn with separate C and KU LNBs, Signal strength/Quality was always High on both Bands. I bought DMX741 CKU LNBF and a QPH031 LNBF also. Installed them as instructions said to. As i moved the dish across the sky i could see signal increases and an occasional quality spikes. The strange thing is that with the 741 and the 031 i can hit EchoStar 7 and 8/10 dead on!! Great signal strength!!

I really don't have anyway of knowing what Sat i am coming across when i get these "Signals", any suggestions? I really would like to get this up and running as i have heard many good things about FTA.

My receiver is a Viewsat Ultra,If i need a different receiver or any thing else to get up and running let me know so i can order it.

Really appreciate all help, great folks here!!

THANKS!!!!!

when you get a signal try blind scanning the sat and see what you come up with. not a big fan of the viewsat I like theFortec receivers better easy to operate and have a great blind scan feature.

....that's truth, viewsat receiver are not pretty good reciver for FTA (they dont have blind scan feature) and that feature is very important for FTA.
