Default Need Help With New Omegasat DSB5700 Set Up

i Just got in my new DBS5700 receiver. I've been shooting birds along time but new to KU band. i have th DBS5700 , the WS9036 dish and the single standard KU band linear LNBF. Im missing something . I have hooked up my signal meter and tried to find galaxy 25 and 18. 18 is the one i want. when i turned on the unit i selected english and went to antenna settings and chose Galaxy 18 KU and saved my settings and exited . i go to blind scan and the signal and quality go to zero and i get nothing.

LNB POWER ON

LOGITUDE 123.0 W

LNB TYPE STAMDARD

LNB FREQ 10750

DISEQC PORT OFF

TONE OFF

SWITCH O/V OV

MOTOR NO

DISEQC1.1 OFF

by the tone of my meter i can tell when im hitting sats. i have tried to blind scan several times without any sucess. i no im missing something. any help would be very nice.

thanks in advance

sounds like you are not on the sat set your receiver for G18 then use a active transponder see www.lyngsat for active TP then move your dish east and west on the pole and up and down on elevation till you find a signal also don't forget to skew your lnb.

yes but do you have a quality reading these receiver will show signal with the lnb pointed at the ground you got to get a quality reading before it will lock in any channels.

...............if you have 0 quality and 0 signal you dont have any comunication betwen lnbf and receiver so you have to check everything before tray to get any bird; check any conection twice and be sure you have plugged up the coaxial cable in the right receiver conector (13/18 volt).

I WONDERED ABOUT THAT CONSTANT SIGNAL. thanks for clearing that up for me . i wondered if it was just my unit. im gonna try again with a tp that i no has a signal. i could not figure how to change it so i called the folks i got it from today. i thought a blind scan would get the channels anyway but im not sure of that cause i thought i was on the sat and didnt get any.

thanks

When you make reference to Galaxy 25 are you refering to Galaxy 25 at 93.1°W or Galaxy 19 at 97°W?

You can use Dishpointer to align your dish. Just type in your address and Zipcode, choose your satellite from the drop down and it will give your Dish Elevation, Azimuth, and LNB Skew. I hope this helps.

RG 6 coax should be fine have you tried changing the elevation to fine signal some of these little dishes angle gauge is not real accurate.my Fortec was off by 5 degrees.

WELL I GOT IT. thanks for all he help. OMG it was the skew on the lnb the whole time. the sugested settings were not even close for my unit. i knew i was on the sat so i lined it up this morning and turn the tv where i could see it and turned the lnbf and presto. settings for my area was 44 degrees . and i read it was clock wise that i should turn it. so i turned it almost upside down and started getting signal and quality. i relalized that it was almost upside down and that water could be a problem so i tried the oposite way and it worked that way also which ment that my settings are counter clockwise about 40 degress. i see some channels have left and read in another post why.

thanks again for your help

WHAT I WAS MISSING ! Skew is clockwise standing behind dish. standing in front would be counter clockwise.
