Default Receiver Upgrade / Program - How To?

I am very new do FTA. I purchased a cheap receiver that was supposed to have many satellite frequencies pre-programed into it. The one I think is the most important for a beginner is Galaxy 19. (I live in Florida, it should be easy to track). To data I have never been able to get the littlest peep out of this bird.

However I noticed that some posters to the forms are against uploading satellite data to their receivers because there is some kind of stigma about "bin" files. Any explanation? I can upload data to my TomTom and Garmin, I can re-flash the BIOS on my computer, so why not inter these "BIN" files into my FTA Receiver?

Given all that how would one add a satellite such as Galixy 19 to a LEXIUM DBS8000+

Thanks,
New to Dishing
