No set distance for the in and out will just have to move it in and out till you get the best signal. as for skew it depends on which sat you are trying to receive or if you are using a motor.

the 741 is better on a prime focus dish usually have to use the conical scaler on offset dishes but won't perform on the smaller dishes as the ones that are made for offset dishes.

larrchev,

Depending on the size dish you are using it on and the satellite(s) you are pointing to, if you are in fact using it on a 36" offset dish, then yes, the Ku portion, just like any other C/Ku LNBF on the market will not operate properly. Here are some reasons why:

1. First and foremost, the of the dish is too small for reception of C band and as far as for Ku band, please see #2

2. Since the LNBF is designed for a prime focus dish, and not an offset dish, when installed on an offset dish, the C band portion is the only portion that is at the correct Focal Distance (F/D), not the Ku band portion.

I know there is a whole "Project" going on out there that people want to test a minibud, C band on a WS9036 dish, but the fact of the matter is for most satellites, at most locations, a 36" dish is just too small to pick up C band.

I have personally, and have never witnessed a customer have a bad LNB or LNBF right out of the box. I have seen LNBFs go bad after a few months, but if you have only had it for a few weeks, I really doubt it's bad.
