Default Dreambox 7020

I chose the Dreambox 7020 for many reasons. It is a Linux based box so to me it is user friendly to work with. I added an internal hard drive (500gig) that hold recorded shows/movies, mp3 music and pictures. It attached to a network and this opens up a whole 'nother world. On the network I can stream satellite reception and what's on its hard drive to and PC on my network. Also right from the STB I listen to satellite radio via Shoutcast. The satellite listing is saved as a .xml file so it the internet radio stations as well as other files. .xml files are easily edited on a PC through the network. The screen background can be changed with your own bitmap picture! The LCD display can be changed to different graphics also! You don't need a Linux computer to talk to it either. There is lots more that this box can do that I'm sure I missed mentioning.

Anybody want to share their receiver or equipment experiences?

I have 1 satworks receiver not in use at this time and 2 Fortec Mercury II a Fortec classic and a Fortec Ultra the Ultra is my favorite. easy menus runs a DG 240 motor flawless and does a great job at Blind scanning. have 1 mercury slaved off of my DSR 922 so don't know how it does with a motor never tried it picture qualtiy is excellent through the component cables. the classic is hooked to the Birdview pointed at 55.5 west and does a nice job it dont have a quality meter so thats 1 strike against it. the other Mercury I use mainly for setting up new dishes but will go into service once I get the 1 meter dish up.

A drawback with the Dreambox is that it does not blindscan. I kept my Fortec Lifetime Ultra for that purpose. I'm glad to hear that the Fortec runs the motor because I have a SG-2100 that am not using. I just finished building a 16'x20' workshop (er.."man-castle") and ran underground conduit with a couple of RG6 runs in it. I was going to tap into my dish farm but maybe I'll use that motor with the Fortec in there.

The 7020 is not but the 8000 is.

But...the 7020 from the box to TV (monitor) can deliver composite/S-video/Component video - Now since it network connected also I stream to a PC and pick up Galaxy 16 (99) MY Network East in MPEG-2/HD. BTW - The PC has Radeon X1300 HDMI card in it.

I have a Dreambox500 that i love for the same reason describe before but i love my Pansat 3500 scaning features;some dreamboxes have scaning hardware in it, like DMM500+, DMM600, DMM800 and DMM8000, the other dream only can do it by software.
