Cool you asked, i've got an answer

Technically, the elevation of a dish/feedhorn combo are two lines, one being the ground plane of the earth the dish sits on (a horizontal line); the other being the line between the middle of the dish (of center focused) and the middle of the feedhorn. This picture should show it a little better.

One way is to use a 1x1, say 10' piece of lumber; use it to determine the angle the dish is pointing by setting it on the dish at an exactly vertical (line it up with the pole, looks same as pole); outside edge of dish to edge of dish, in the center of the dish (top of dish to bottom of dish, highest to lowest points). Now screw another short piece of 1x1 wood exactly level to the ground with a level, to the "vertical wood". This will make an angle you can measure with any protractor (angle measurement). This measure will be the dishes elevation!

or you could just buy a cheap inclinometer and measure it that way a lot cheaper then lumber.
