Hey Westside, the best thing to do is go to the lyngsat website and start exploring. If you are a curious type of person this hobby can be pretty cool. Fair warning though, if you are the type of person that are looking for a permanent stable replacement for cable/Dish/DirectV don't do it.
I live out in a rural isolated area and for years there was no cable TV (only till about 3 months ago!) where I live. I started out with a C-band Analog 10' dish and saw plenty and then I realized just how much fun this could be (to me at least). I ended up putting up a total of 10 dishes. 4 were motor driven. Back to your question, There is plenty of legally free channels to view. They range to some channels that just play older movies, some channels with music videos, some sports, lots and lots of foreign language stations and religious programming. Some of the real fun starts when you stumble across what are called "wild Feeds". Some of these are the the station feeds from live news reports. You can catch the newscaster waiting to go "live" picking their nose or what ever. Amusing.... I hope this sounds like it could be interesting to you. There are plenty of people that will assist you including me. Sorry but I am not always on but if I'm available I will answer any questions. |

Also, don't forget about www.FTAList.com. What I like about FTALIst.com is that it's so user friendly for a newbee.

I love newscaster feeds. You will find lot's of that when there is something big happening.
Don't want to bring any memories back, but I wish I had FTA on 9/11. I bet every satellite was going crazy and were full of news feeds. I usually see that stuff during the day. Quote:
